Reflection on Gatsby

Overall, this was an exciting book. It was quite fun to read and it has taken its place amongst my favorite books. A few things I felt that were not so good was the fact that Nick was so cynical and he seemed to hate everything implicitly about the East since the beginning but did not bring these up until the very end. I remember his father told that he should not boast about his money because others might not have been lucky enough to have much money when they were growing up but the East is completely against this idea. It changes people into something that they were not. I liked the way that Gatsby was depicted. Even though I had expected something completely different from this plot, it was a great book. It was great in the sense that it told the reader about how the Eastern people live and while telling us how corrupt their lifestyle is. This was a book that had different topic than the normal books we tend to read in class and I was very pleased to have finished the book this time!
